Major Courtenay Averill McConney B.S.A OSt.J ED, aged 90, late of 1st Avenue Dover Gardens, Christ Church. Member of the Barbados Regiment, St. John Ambulance Brigade, Barbados Legion, The Royal Commonwealth Society, MESA, Lodge Unity 1625, Rose Croix No. 1097 and the St. Barnabas Church.
Son of the late Sylvia Orley McConney and Irvine McDonald McConney.
Husband of Dathny McConney née Hunte.
Father of Averill McConney Lovell, Year Head at the St. Michael School and Dr. Glenda McConney Gay, Lecturer at the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill.
Grandfather of Jeffrey Jr., Reyda, Elijah and Nathan.
Brother of Grace, Mark, Sylvia, the late Irvine II and Trevor McConney.
Uncle of Tyrone and Irvine III McConney and many others.
Father-in-law of Cameron Lovell.
The funeral of the late Major Courtenay Averill McConney leaves Tudor’s Funeral Home, The Ivy, St. Michael on Saturday, January 5th, 2019, at 8:30am for St. Matthias Anglican Church, Hastings, Christ Church, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00am for a Service of Thanksgiving. The organist and members of the choir are kindly asked to attend. The cortege will then proceed to the Military Cemetery, Gravesend, Needham's Point, St. Michael for the Interment. No mourning colours by special request. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Barbados Legion and The St. John Ambulance Brigade will be collected. The body will repose for viewing in the Chapel of Tudor’s Funeral Home on Friday, January 4th, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm.
